Sitting is killing us faster than if we smoked.
A 2014 Study found that every hour of (seated) TV watching we do cuts about 22 minutes from our life span. That was contrasted with this study, which estimated that smokers shorten their lives by about 11 minutes per cigarette.
“Sitting may have more to do with obesity than [lack of] physical activity,” says Professor Adrian Bauman of Sydney University’s School of Public Health.
Sitting causes many health issues but the correlation between sitting and back-pain is really interesting. 80% of people report sitting 8-hours a day and 80% of these people report back pain.
Sitting and Screens
Screen-time compounds the problem (or is the problem)…
What happens when working people leave the desk at night?
Do they either get behind a windscreen and drive or join public transport and fixate on a smartphone?
Once home, do they watch the TV, iPad or go back to the computer?
If the combination of sitting and screen-time is causing you back pain. Then get in touch.
